The information below is intended to act as a guide for the Canvas course creation timeline. The dates and months are subject to change, depending on changes to the university academic calendar.
Fall Courses: End of July or early August, at least a week before Axess registration opens. Departments are still updating their course data in July, removing courses that will not be taught in the upcoming academic year. We want to capture as many of those updates as possible, while still giving instructors time to post their syllabi before course registration begins in August. Fall 2024 Canvas courses are now available.
Winter Courses: Mid-October or Early November. Course shells for Winter and Spring quarters are created after the add/drop period of the previous quarter, which ends after the third week of the quarter. Winter 2025 courses are now available.
Spring Courses: End of January. Course shells for Winter and Spring quarters are created after the add/drop period of the previous quarter, which ends after the third week of the quarter. Spring courses are typically created at the end of January. Spring 2025 courses are now available.
Summer Courses: End of March. Since Axess registration for summer courses starts in early April, Summer courses are typically created in late March, before the add/drop period for Spring. Summer 2025 courses are now available.
